DOMAIN DEBUTS IN PRINCETON

New Large-Format Domain Store Features The Great Room

May 21, 2003 – Domain, a trend-setting home furnishings retailer for more than 17 years, is bringing its signature decorating style to the great room in its new, large-format store opening this month.

According to Domain’s founder and CEO Judy George, “The kitchen, or great room as it has evolved, is today’s living room, dining room and kitchen combined. It’s the center of family life where everything happens. Our new store features this concept, and also offers customers hands-on experience cooking on Britain’s legendary Aga range. Unlike any other store, it’s a total home decorating experience.”

The timing couldn’t be better for Domain to premiere its new great room looks as Americans are staying home more, traveling less and investing in their homes. The new store also carries Domain’s exclusive line of living, dining and bedroom furnishings and includes a full line of complementary decorative accessories and antique pieces. “If you look at kitchens in Europe,” says George, “they have always been at the forefront of the trend to combine cooking and living all in one room.” Domain’s design team has created a collection of European-inspired, free-standing kitchen furnishings, including islands, sideboards and plate racks, with compatible dining groups and upholstered furniture.

Domain’s Princeton store is the second in a multiple-store expansion plan to feature the new great room concepts, including the Aga range. The first store opened in Fair Oaks, Virginia last fall. The company plans to open three additional large-format stores this year in Huntington, New York, Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania and what will become the company’s flagship location – Natick, Massachusetts. Domain became a subsidiary of British-based Aga Foodservice Group in March 2002. The merger unites two powerful brands in the home products industry, both known for their fiercely loyal customers. Aga is a British icon, synonymous with quality and craftsmanship, and the choice of serious cooks, celebrities and royalty alike. According to George, “Aga brings Domain that much closer to helping women create their dream lives at home. Customers can experience this exciting lifestyle with hands-on Aga cooking demonstrations in our Princeton store, and several fully-furnished kitchen settings.”

Founded in 1985, Domain operates 27 retail stores from Boston to Washington, D.C. Well-loved for its decorator looks, classic European-style furnishings and fully-accessorized displays, Domain has won numerous industry and customer awards.
