JUDY GEORGE NAMED "LEADING WOMAN" BY PATRIOTS’ TRAIL GIRL SCOUT COUNCIL

Awards Celebration Honors Achievements of Women Role Models

 
Judy George, Founder and CEO of Domain Home Fashions, received a Leading Woman Award from the Patriots’ Trail Girl Scout Council at the Ninth Annual Leading Women Awards and Exhibit on Monday, October 23, at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. Ms. George was one of twelve women chosen as the 2001 recipients of the Leading Women Award, which recognizes local women for their accomplishments and contributions to their communities and society.

Ms. George accepted the award at the event attended by over 500 supporters of the Girl Scouts and expressed her heart-felt thanks and sincere appreciation for the prestigious recognition. She joined the Girl Scouts at age 11 where her desire to belong and excel won her a role as young chairperson for the March of Dimes. In this role, Judy traveled all over the country. She credits the Girl Scouts for providing the camaraderie and teambuilding skills that she believes are so important for young people to learn and that have helped her to achieve her dreams.

The winners of this year’s awards were chosen from over 100 nominations of women in all fields private industry, the arts, research, business, community service, and academics who have served as exemplary role models for today’s girls and young women.

A photographic exhibit featuring all of the current Leading Women, accompanied by their inspirational biographical information, will be on display throughout Greater Boston for an entire year in order to bring these women’s accomplishments to the attention of the general public, in addition to providing youth with valuable role models. The exhibit will be featured at South Station, the State House, Boston City Hall, and the Boston Public Library, among other locations to be announced.
