JUDY GEORGE NAMED WITHIT RETAILER OF THE YEAR

With It Founding Board Member Honored at High Point Annual Gala

Judy George, Founder and CEO of Domain Home Fashions, a leading-edge specialty retailer of exclusive home furnishings, was named "Retailer of the Year" by Women In The Home Industries Today (WithIt). The second annual WOW (WithIt Outstanding Women of the Year) Awards Dinner was held on Saturday, April 8, for over 350 industry representatives at the High Point Country Club, High Point, NC. This is the second WithIt award for Domain; in 1999 they were one of three recipients for the Corporate Standard of Leadership Award, which honors the companies that recognize and promote women in management and leadership positions.

The WOW Award for Retailer of the Year recipient must have served in a major management position for a minimum of three years as a top executive or owner, as well as led, contributed or influenced the development of an innovative merchandising mix, an unusual visual display, an advertising campaign, a niche within the general marketplace or simply have an outstanding retail strategy. Eligibility for this award applies to all retailers in the United States. Nominations are taken from the WithIt Board of Governors and Board of Directors, and then voted on by the Board of Governors.

Upon receiving the award, Judy George commented that she has long recognized the need for a woman’s voice in the home furnishings industry and the importance of Withit’s mission to encourage and develop women in professional roles. In an industry where over 90% of the consumers are women but under 10% of the management positions go to women, Ms. George has always set an example for promoting women to key positions. Ms. George proceeded to thank WithIt for the award and to introduce her Domain merchandising team made up of all women to whom she credited for receiving this prestigious award.

Domain currently operates 22 stores from Boston, MA to Washington, DC in up-scale regional shopping malls and at freestanding locations.

WithIt is a non-profit trade association created to encourage and develop leadership, mentoring, education and opportunity for professional women in the home furnishings industries. Judy George is a founding Board member and presently serves on the Advisory Council and Mentoring Chair.
