Norwood, MA - July 25, 2001 - Step inside Domain Home Fashions and delight in the ambiance and luxury of a by-gone era brought to life in their newest fall theme "Chateau Harvest." Domain's creative team has taken inspiration from their travels across the French countryside, its magnificent chateaus and grand residences to design a fresh and unique compilation of sumptuous home furnishings. Designed for today's up-scale consumer desiring an elegant but livable style, "Chateau Harvest" comprises a number of artistically presented collections that will debut in all 22 Domain stores beginning this week.
From classic garden urns, busts and aged tapestries of wool and hand-painted leather, to ornate silver candelabras, porcelain vessels and hand-cut crystal chandeliers, the infusion of French influence is everywhere at Domain. Button tufted chairs and skirted ottomans, intricately carved Louis XVI chairs and shapely silhouettes, all make regal statements that espouse the spirit of French formality. "The privileged lifestyle and prized possessions of the royals and aristocrats have intrigued and inspired the world for centuries," said Domain founder and CEO, Judy George. "We've taken our cue from these influential periods in history to recreate some stunning artifacts with updated comfort and sensibilities for today's consumer. There is a return to formality and tradition and the way people want to live. These furnishings are stately and sophisticated and befitting every woman whose home is her castle, her private sanctuary where she reigns supreme." Chateau Harvest is a collection of exclusively designed furnishings portrayed in faded elegance as timeworn treasures. The ripened autumnal palette of soft roses, deep burgundies and greens, aged russets and terracottas blends harmoniously with paired neutral shades and serenely warms every Domain vignette. This mellow bouquet of harvest colors accentuates each exquisite design and flows into the bountiful assortment of exclusive decoupage, crystal and tole objets d'art. The St. Germaine bedroom collection was designed for today's consumer desiring to make an impressive statement. Inspired by the grand old apartments lining the Boulevard St. Germaine on the Left Bank, it is a magnificent display of skilled craftsmanship. The large multi-paneled headboard and gently curved footboard are made from exotic woods and feature artfully designed marquetry detail inlaid in a floral pattern with burnished brass rosette appliqué accents. The bed is dressed in romantic Aubusson finery - an intricately woven coverlet, shams and dust ruffle - possessing the warm harvest palette. The St. Germaine dresser is also a work of art and features deep rounded drawers, inlaid marquetry and burnished brass wreath-like drawer pulls and rosette appliqués. An impressive landscape mirror mounts to the back of the dresser and an intricately detailed nightstand with brass capped legs and pilaster details completes the collection. Sheer elegance and ultimate comfort best describe the "Camille" collection with its sophisticated blend of fabrics and luxurious down-blend seating. The roll-arm slipcovered sofa is dressed in a crème coloured French nosegay and lacey ribbon pattern, and paired with a club chair and ottoman in a complementary soft petal, green and crème jacquard wreath design. Tying the ensemble together is a white-washed Louis XVI chair embellished with hand-carved rosette and leaf pattern details in a striking petal, crème and green striped jacquard. The graceful Camille collection may recall grand Parisian parlors and The Age of Innocence, but it incorporates all the lush comfort and generous scale for today's aspiring chatelaine. Additional collections will be introduced throughout the harvest season and can also be seen at the company's 200+ page website www.domain-home.com.
