DOMAIN COOKS IN THE KITCHEN

New Stores Feature Unique Furnishings and the Legendary Aga Range

September 20, 2002 – A trend-setting home furnishings retailer for 17 years, Domain is bringing its signature decorating style into today’s kitchens and great rooms. The first two Domain larger format stores open this fall in Fair Oaks, Virginia and Princeton, New Jersey.

According to Domain CEO Judy George, “The kitchen is today’s living room: the center of family life, entertaining, and of course, cooking. Our new Domain stores are really turning up the heat in this important part of the home, offering customers exciting kitchen furnishings and accessories, including the famous Aga range from Britain, a joy for cooking and entertaining. It’s a total home decorating experience unlike any other retail store.”

The timing couldn’t be better for Domain to move into the kitchen as Americans are staying home more, traveling less and investing more than ever in their kitchens. The two new stores will also carry Domain’s full line of living, dining and bedroom furnishings and accessories.

“If you look at kitchens in Europe,” says George, “they have always been at the forefront of the trend to combine cooking and living all in one room.” Domain’s design team has created new collections of European-inspired, free-standing kitchen furnishings including islands, sideboards and plate racks, with compatible dining groups and upholstered furniture.

Domain customers will also get to experience the wonders of Britain’s legendary Aga range. Featuring multiple ovens, with no dials or timers necessary, an Aga range makes cooking and entertaining a lot easier and more rewarding. Aga’s design and color options also make it a visual centerpiece of the room.

Domain became a subsidiary of British-based Aga Foodservice Group in March 2002. The merger unites two powerful brands in the home products industry, both known for their fiercely loyal customers. Aga is an icon in Europe, synonymous with quality and craftsmanship, and the choice of serious cooks, celebrities and royalty alike. In the words of Judy George, “Aga brings Domain that much closer to helping women create their dream lives at home. Customers can experience this exciting lifestyle with hands-on Aga cooking demonstrations, and several fully furnished kitchen settings.”

Founded in 1985, Domain operates 25 retail stores from Boston to Washington, D.C. Well-loved for its decorator looks, classic European-style furnishings, and fully-accessorized displays, Domain has won numerous industry and customer awards.
